Harrogate District Local Plan Publication Draft Consultation 26 January – 9 March 2018

Harrogate Borough council has published its draft Local Plan and is inviting formal representations on it. The consultation begins on Friday 26 January 2018 and finishes at 4.30pm on Friday 9 March 2018.

The Local Plan sets out the broad spatial planning and policy framework for the Harrogate district up to 2035. It includes a long-term vision and strategic objectives, policies to guide development, allocations for new homes and jobs, educational facilities, Local Green Space and Gypsy and Traveller provision as well as a broad location for growth for a new settlement. The Local Plan will also be used to make decisions on future planning applications and, once adopted, will replace the council's existing Local Plan, which includes a number of 'saved Local Plan Policies', originally adopted in 2001.

Following this consultation, (26 Jan – 9 Mar 2018), the Local Plan will be submitted, together with the individual representations received, to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, who will appoint an independent inspector to conduct an examination in public. A summary of the main issues raised during the consultation will also be submitted to the Secretary of State.
